May God's gift of salvation fill all our hearts with gratitude as we celebrate our Saviors birth. God bless us, and may that chorus of old sung by the heavenly host ring true, "peace on earth goodwill for men". I am not talking about the absence of war, but the inner peace and confidence that all authentic believers of Jesus receive.

It occurs to me that in speaking about barns that the barn that Mary laid her Innocent was likely made of stone in contrast to the ark built from gopher wood by Noah. This is even better, for the Bible speaks of Jesus being our Rock and Stone. His salvation is everlasting like stone compared to wood. Wood decays and rots away like the flesh, but stone is endures.

The covenant God made with Noah was not to destroy the flesh again with water and was a promise of allowing the physical, yet fallen man to survive. Temporary like the wood from the ark. The Salvation from Jesus is like stone. It is everlasting.
