Above is a map of the majority of the population by religion for each county within the United States of America. The most interesting thing that I find is that even by spending millions of dollars and sending thousands of missionaries throughout the United States the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints is still a religion of Utah and Southern Idaho. Outside of this core area fewer than twenty counties have a population with an LDS majority. Yet even this weekend during the general conference the church claims it is a national and world religion. There is no doubt that international growth is occurring mostly in South and Central America.
But the explosive growth of the church is not from converts in distant far away lands. The truth is that the explosive growth still comes from the high birth rate of LDS families which now is declining to match the rest of the United States. The map is linked to its source. The above map is the map of Church bodies.
